Mark Smalley

A freelance audio producer, Mark Smalley’s career in making features and documentaries for BBC Radio 4 spans current affairs, history, drama and environmental output. He began as a news reporter/producer for BBC GLR in London in 1992, was part of the launch team for BBC Radio 5 Live in 1994 and went on to work as a senior producer on BBC World Service’s award-winning show Outlook before specialising in long form radio features and documentaries. Having left the BBC in 2018, Mark’s current freelance projects include EarthWorks for Radio 3 and a podcast series supporting Painstorm, a medical research programme that addresses all aspects of life with chronic neuropathic pain.
