David Weiland

Until September 2021, David was CEO of BBC Global News Ltd, managing the BBC World News channel, website and news app internationally. Previously David was Executive Vice President of the BBC’s commercial businesses in Asia and Western Europe for BBC Studios Ltd. Prior to that he programmed and ran the BBC’s international channels business. He left the BBC in September 2021.

David started his career as a current affairs journalist for various independent production companies, including ‘A Week in Politics’ for Channel 4, as well as being a news producer for Reuters Television based in Brussels and London, producing news and long form programming for GMTV, Sky News and NBC. He won the Silver Prize and Special Jury Prize for DISPATCHES: A BOSNIAN BETRAYAL at Monte Carlo Film & Television Festival, 1997.
